HackMail by Alex Chudnovsky aka AtW (c) Copyright 1998. This program was
written by me from scratch, only the following (freeware) great component
was used for development:
Program is also freeware, however you can not sell it any how
without my written permission. Also I forbid any kind of commercial usage.
Just for you personally! You can reverse-engineer if you like so.
Mail
me if you have any legal or not words to tell me.

What is it?
Hackmail is a program designed to make easy mail fetches
from very well known Web Mail provider: http://www.hotmail.com
Despite obvious advantages this type of mail takes often much more time
then simple mail reading should take. Do you need to see all these ad's???
Do you want to wait until they get downloaded? I guess your answer is no,
same as mine. By running this program you will take all your web mail in
most efficient way and will have it forwarded to your any usual Email account.
YES! It's that's easy, just run it and it will get all mail for you! Optionally
it may save it on your disk if you do not want get it forwarded (although
this is not very convenient way to browse trough your mail). Hackmail works
very fast, no images ever get loaded, no more stupid ad's around. And it's
also free.
System Requirements
PC with Windows 95/98/NT. (should do well on any amount of RAM, it's not
that fat). Internet connection.
Features
Works:
-
Login your hotmail account (you provide name/pass of course), get automatically
all new mail messages from Inbox folder and forward them to any Email you
want (optionally to just download them and leave into your local directory)
-
Support for multiple accounts supported (I guess some of us have more then
1 on hotmail).
-
Proxy support. Easy change of many proxies so you can keep yourself a little
bit anonymous.
-
Attachments, inlined images downloaded and optionally can be also forwarded
to your account
-
Off-line reading enabled -- generates HTML file that looks like your Hotmail
box to browser and read mail locally.
Does not work well yet:
-
Messages taken from Inbox only. Do you really need other folders?
History
No one gave a heck about history, so I removed that section.
Frequently Asked Questions
Well, no one so far seen this program (only few people) so this would be
my good guess of possible question will arise:
1. Q: Why it's called HackMail?
A: It's what came into my mind when I first
had idea to do that. Besides, HoTMaiL-HaCKMail, not too bad rhythm?
2. Q: Is it legal?
A: 100%. It is _NOT_ any sort of illegal
hack. A hack in this context means pretty-weird-way-to-do-it. Not to go
deeply in tech stuff, HackMail is merely a customly programmed browser
which knows what to take and what not.
3. Q: All work working fine yesterday but today it's all stopped!
A: Possible! Due to changes in HOTMAIL server,
which are not yet reflected in my program will mean temporary inability
to work for my program. I suggest you notify me ASAP if that happens. There
should not be such changes in server which will stop my program from work
unless Hotmail/Microsoft staff would hate my program too much to change
layout of their web pages.
4. Q: Any info about how it was coded?
A: Sure. It's about 50kb in C++. Plus about
25kb in HTML parser and about 80kb of visual component to show HTML. Last
2 were done a year ago for other project. I just re-used them. That's good
side of C++. Provided they were coded well...
Compiler used - C++Builder v1.0. Raw protocols such as HTTP/SMTP Internet
were by Francois Piette. I tried
many other about 10, freeware and commercial, these are best! Free and
with source code. Unfortunately it's Object Pascal :(.
5. Q: Your question!
A: ...

Click here to download the most latest version: (United Kingdom): hackmail.zip
(~400kb)
Here some paranoids (like me) and tech nerds can have a look at the
source: hackmail107.zip
Installation is easy, just unzip it to any folder you like. I hope
interface is self-explanatory. I do not provide screen shots as program
is pretty small so instead of downloading images you could get whole stuff!
